Is pm a verb? I read that 'google' has now been accepted by OED as a verb. Is the same true for pm? 'pm me' 'I pmed you yesterday' Is it a regular verb?

If OK, KO, ID and 86 can be used as verbs, why not pm? Is it regular? Just as regular as "sneak".

If we use it as a verb, then it's a verb. We at dave's are English language trend setters after all. Cool Cool

Try googling "86ed"

pm'd would seem better for the spelling.

Alex42, you clearly didn't work your way through college as a waiter, waitress, bartender or cook. To 86 something is American restaurant lingo. It means to cancel something that has already been ordered or remove it from the menu, perhaps because the restaurant has run out of it or because it's gone bad. The origin is something of a mystery, but here are some links:

Youre quite right - wow thats spooky! However, I have a suspicion that even if I had had one of these jobs I still wouldnt have heard the term, what with me not being American. Smile

Thanks for the info though, its good to know these things!

Incidentally my favourite example of noun/verb confusion is the MTV show "Pimp my Ride".
