Ok, I`ve decided to give Latin America a shot. From what I can understand through this forum I should just fly straight to Mexico, Brazil, Argentina (or wherever I finally decide to go) and search for work when I get there. If I leave in early/mid September of this year will I be going at a bad time to search for a TEFL job in this region. Which countries out of this region are the easiest to find work in. Will my Bsc, CELTA and 3 years teaching experience ensure that I can easily find work or will I have any problems? Will I be able to break even after living there for a year? Much oblidged to thee.

I had roughly the same level of qualifications as you when I arrived (BA plus TEFL) and did manage to break even after my first year in Ecuador. Although many people do succesfully turn up and look for work, I found it helpful, to say the least, to have a job (and VISA) lined up when I arrived.

At the very least, you'll want to do pretty thorough research about visa requirements, as in some cases this may be much harder to arrange once you're there.

If you investigate a bit and decide more specifically about your destination, you'll probably get more detailed info, and in any case I'd also re-post this on the general latin american forum.

Good luck,
Justin

- Mexico is very easy to find work in; can't say about the others.
- Yes, you should have no problem finding teaching work with your experience.

It is extremely advisable to find work before you go to any of the mentioned countries. You will discover, for example, that obtaining a working visa for Brazil is extremely difficult while the same may not be said about Mexico. Again, don't just go to the given country and start looking for a job unless you have money to burn.
