Hi everyone! This is my first time posting on this site, though I've scoured many posts in regards to Spain and teaching english, the difficulties for Americans, the joys, etc. I feel like I've got a decent understanding of what possibly to expect, but I'm wondering if others could give me more specifics.
I am set to go to the Clic course in Seville for CELTA certification in August. Afterwards ideally I want to stay in Spain to teach. My questions are:
-Approximately how much can I expect to make per week teaching?
-Will I have to get three or four different jobs in order to even make it?
-I've heard recently that housing costs are skyrocketing in Spain - is this the case from those living there now?
-I suppose this is relative, but is it feasible to put money away to save a little in the process?
-Any other helpful advice or suggestions would be more than welcome.
Thanks in advance.

In Seville, Andalucia rather, it'll be a lot less than in other parts of Spain. Also they pay you monthly, not weekly. I lived and worked in Granada for 1.5 years and got about $800/month. It was average and enough to live on, and I partied pretty hard!

If you get another job, I wouldn't announce it. Many schools get really anal about that and want you all for themselves. Hang up signs everywhere for private classes. It can be good extra $ if you get it organized. If your students like you they'll pass you along ot friends!
I absolutely love los Andaluces!!!!!

you gotta look around of course. I paid 400E/month(between 3 people) for 3 bedroom in Granada center. I got a good deal!

nunca!

I came to Sevilla at the end of November to take the CLIC course, and while I have nothing but good things to say about that part, the job search was a pain in the ass. It's definitely much better to come when you're coming, and I think you'll be able to pick up hours at a couple of places and will do fine. I'm only teaching privately, and while I'm not rolling in bling, I'm surviving.

Rent in Sevilla isn't that bad if you look around. I pay 220 a month for an awesome room in an apartment in Triana a block away from Calle Betis, which is prime real estate.

Don't expect to save money though! And don't sign any iron-clad leases right away, as work might take you elsewhere--whether somewhere else in Andalucia or to big stupid Madrid.

PM me if you have any other questions about Sevilla specifically, but Granada girl answered your questions pretty well
