Hola!

It is that time of the year, the time to get the visa renewed. I hope that i do not have any problems getting it approved.

I resigned from a "chain" type school on November of last year. I felt that they broke the contract with me, I'm not too mad at them, I was unhappy there and wanted out anyway. I was working two jobs at the time, so I just worked for my other employer. They have other foreigners on staff, so no problem.

The "chain" school stated that they would not go to immigration about this, but I am worried. Has anybody lost their right to work for leaving a position? Lost their visa and may unknowingly overstayed for monthes?

I would like to know from people that have quit their jobs and have gotten other positions and how it affected their status. I really want my visa because I am married here, and am enjoying my life here.

The person who is getting my new visa is my agent. She also tells me that i have to do a medical exam. I did not have to do this last year. has anyone done a Hangzhou medical check?

SENOR

It's technically possible. If you have a Z visa the issuing host can cancel your documents if you quit. It's sometimes a form of "punishment". And they won't exactly send you a postcard notifying you of this, either. Even if they don't cancel it you will need a release letter from your old employer before you can transfer it to another school. If you have an F or L then the school can't cancel it. If there is any doubt in your mind I suggest you go to HK while your old visa is still good, and re-enter on an L visa until your new Z comes through. Note that this short-term emergency is the ONLY scenario where I advise the use of anything except a Z visa!

These are very standard for a residence permit. Sometimes they can be avoided if you wish by getting 2 6-month temporary permits instead of a 1-year permit. I assume that HZ will be much like all the others- blood work, chest x-ray, EKG, more. I strongly recommend that while the doctor is dropping your pants and checking your personal equipment, you reach around and pat them gently and lovingly on the behind. Wink

MyTUrnNow said it all!
In your situation, you can:
- do as he suggested - go to HK and reenter on a new L or F visa
(you can buy an L visa for around 400 HK$, multiple entry); of
course, you will then be an II! The same as if you worked on an
F visa!
- The other choice is to gamble on good luck: Will your new employer
have the necessary clout over the local PSB? And, yes, you will need
to undergo a medical exam although it might be waived as you have
been married to a local in China, which necessitated an examination
too.
- You can write a release letter, present it to your former employer and
have him sign and chop it. You may need to bring some pressure to
bear on him, say, you are legally required by CHinese law, as the
spouse of a CHinese national, to present such a release letter to
certain authorities. This may or may not be true, but perhaps you need
to come up with a white lie.
Your last resort would, otherwise, be
- to apply for a new position withholding information on your job in
China of this and last year. Doable but not a choice solution!

Just make sure you insist on using a NEW needle for your injections; out in the sticks some still use old, i.e., second hand, needles.

Probably not a problem here....Hangzhou is right downtown.

And perhaps less likely if the clinic specializes in this work....
My first such physical was in Dalian and was held in the "Center for Inspecting Livestock, Agricultural Goods, and Foreigners". Gave me such a warm feeling...
