I've read a lot about Berlitze and Bridge Linguatec. What are some of your thoughts on EF English First?

Last time i checked EF didn't have an english school in santiago only a recruitment centre for sending chileans to EF schools around the world. My experience in england with them was very positive except when they stopped buying the daily 'paper for the staffroom on cost grounds. B*stards.

EF runs a good ship in Mexico City. They are franchises aren't they? If so, then it probably depends much more on the DOS and ownership then generalismos

Actually EF English First does have a school in Santiago. It's located on the boarder of Providencia and Las Condes. I taught there for about eleven months. In all, my experience with EF was very positive. You do, however, have to deal with it being a franchise...... each school is privately owned. And that they tend to be more about quantity rather than quality.

I know two people that used to work there, both said it was a fine place to work. Both now work for another place, but I think it's because they wanted visas, national ID card, etc.

So how's the pay at English First?

I think I've heard it's around $5000 and you have to have a TEFL/CELT plus experience. Does that seem to be current information?

Just thought I'd add my two cents in favour of EF. I can only speak for the Stgo. operation in Providencia.

The work environment and management are really friendly and supportive. I had a really positive experience there.

Good luck.
