DO NOT WORK HERE!!!!!!!!!!
I worked for them for awhile and made a shit-load of money but they'll totally screw you quicker than you can believe!!! I don't know about the other Vaughan offices but the Barna one is absolutly ridiculous, especially for women. They say their turnover rate for teachers is 9 yrs. but that is so not true!!! I know at least five teachers that have quit/got dropped suddenly.
Just want to warn people. They're tempting because they pay so well but you absolutely cannot depend on them. |

You can't depend on them b/c they refuse to give anyone a contract and they'll just stop giving you hours if you don't kiss their butt. Seriously.
I think I have a very good work ethic and I'm very dependable. I've never had a problem with other work places so I know it's not me.
I just saw so much crap go on there, it was horrible. I'd never seen a work place treat people so badly, especially behind their backs like that!!
Maybe I'm just a bit bitter b/c I fell into their trap. They're so nice to your face and pay well but it's all bull. |

Hi Granada Girl,
Just curios, are they really that bad?, Only because it is quite a big company, I think theyve been in Spain for 20 years or more. You mentioned they dont give contracts, but if youre EU arent they obligated by law to give you a contract? I heard of them, I know they pay well and they work with big clients, any additional info is appreciated. |

The actual job at Vaughan I liked. Yes, they give you a book to use for about 60% of the class and then you're free to do what you want the rest of the class. I actually really enjoyed it. I called it the military style of learning English. It's all about the drills. You really notice a rapid improvement among your students.
I only said to beware of the Barcelona branch. They are cruel, to put it nicely. I'm not the only one to complain about them either. Half the people I worked with either quit or were just dropped suddenly. I haven't heard that great of things about the Madrid office either but they are a lot bigger so that could be a good thing. I do know someone though at the Valencia office that really enjoys it.
Just be careful in Barna!!
No contracts for anyone, EU or not. They tend to hire Americans though. |

Not at all. They all want to save those costly social security payments |

I know his mother in law. She's best mates with my aunt. He seems a nice enough man but he is loaded so someone is working for peanuts. And if you pay peanuts.... you get monkeys. |

I had some friends at one of my academies that were actually Spanish and for some reason the stupid place we worked for wouldn't give them contracts. I have no idea why they stayed. One of them had a contract for a quarter of her hours which resulted in separate checks from her contract and illegal work. Another American friend said British people at her school had similar stuff to deal with-I mean partial contracts. It seems a very lose type of working situation in general. |

I went to the website and they said that you had to be there legally. Is this just a legal front, or are they actually hiring Americans legally, ie Americans w/EU passports, or Americans with work visas? |

If anyone has any feedback on Vaughan Systems in Valencia, I'd appreciate it. I was thinking of paying them a call.
Sounds well dodgy about the contracts. |
