hello everyone,

Im curious to know how extensive the checks on the degree certification is. Do I need to supply my transcript as well as my Degree Certificate?

Ive got a degree but my friend who Im going to travelling with dosnt have one and we are considering purchasing a fake one if we think it could work. We are both experienced teachers with TESOL under our belts but this one thing could get in our way.

If they find out its a fake what are the legalities of the situation? Anyone experienced this before?

feedback appreciated.

Please don't.
Lying on Taiwan is considered to be polite behavior and is quite acceptable in the work environment.
Fraud on the other hand is reserved for gangsters / politicians. If you don't fall into that category, don't use a fake degree.
There are many teachers on Taiwan who have attained and ARC through fraud. The CLA is not as stringent as the MOE was in verifying degrees and leave it up to the employers to do so.
Finding work without a degree in hand is possible and even excepted in some areas.
Two year or associate degrees are also acceptable if you have an accompanying TESOL certificate.
There is also a working vacation program that Taiwan agreed to with Australia and New Zealand but Taiwan has not yet implemented the program as agreed and is not expected to do so.

The CLA is the council of labor affairs and they are now responsible for authorizing ARC's for foreign natioanls.
The MOE is the Ministry of Education (a.k.a. the Ministry of Racial Purity).
An ARC is part of the work visa that allows you to live in Taiwan.
Good luck.
