I have a friend that taught there for a year. He loved it and doesn't like the big city. It's about an hour and a half from Hiroshima. There aren't very many foreigners there. His foreign group of friends where people from Nova (small school), some private conversation schools and a few JETs.

If you like the small town, want to improve your Japanese type of place, you should be fine. If you're looking to be near a bigger city, Fukuoke and Hiroshima are near by, but you have to endure your week in hicksville.

I lived in Tokuyama for 6 months and then for five years lived in a city about an hour away and travelled there once a week for work so I know it pretty well. Whether you like it or not will really depend on how much you want to be in a big city, what you want to do in your spare time and if you have a car to get around in. I lived in Yamaguchi prefecture for 7 years and always had a car but I think it would be a bit of a bummer to get around in cities or between cities there without one.

PM me if you have any more specific questions about the place because I can tell you lots about the area.
