What do you think will happen with this law? I just bought a place and was thrown for a loop when I learned about the annullment. I hope it is just an adjustment. I am not going to live in the place, but it is a step to finding "the" place for me, but my plan was to do it next year.
The situation kind of reminds me of the bumper stickers in Oregon during the 70s "Don't Californicate Oregon", because lots of Californians were buying land in Oregon because it was affordable. Now Oregon is pretty nice because of the influx of capital. Think that would happen here? |

Don't worry. The law is not posted dated. It can't effect you. Also the law relates to largh land lots outside MUHTAR control. Most of us have a local Muhtar in our areas, to which our properties are recorded. |

What law? Did they change something?
They still don't like Californians in Oregon, though the Oregonians are pretty much outnumbered now...Used to be the sign outside Eugene said, 'Welcome to Eugene, Now Go Home.' |

I'm thinking of buying some land around Datca/Dalaman
Any suggestions/tips/warnings from those of you who've already bought
Anyone know good estate agent - or is it best just to get in a car & drive
Anyone know a good solicitor or builder in the Datca/Dalaman area?
Tks |

If you buy land or engage in other business in Turkiye, you would be well advised to have a real Turkish friend back you up on the deal, and support you and check things with you, when you do the paper work and sign deals.
The laws change too often in Turkey, and in some businesses, even Turks have trouble keeping up.
One business that could be good is setting up a hostel for foreigners. Pick the right spot, and it can be good income. |

Thanks for the advice, Ghost, but being married to a hostel is not my cup of tea, plus I don't have the resources.
I am very lucky in that I have an indispensable Turkish friend who is a great problems solver. He took care of the old renter's huge bills at the elektrik idaresi (1500TL!) and ISKI. He knows when and when not to have a foreigner in tow. he is doing the renovations on my place and has solved a lot fo problems there, too. The place will be ready to rent in about a week if anyone is interested-- in Beyoglu. |

This is in response to Helen ... I'm an ex TEFL ... recently launched a company selling property in Turkey. I trekked the coast last year and plucked out 20 star agents... In Datca, the estate agent I work with Stella Clarkson, also runs the www.englishteflcentre.com (on-line). I'm afraid selling property is more lucrative than teaching!! My site is www.turkeytwinkles.com . Plenty of properties in Datca and Dalaman! |

The ''englishteflcentre'' is a con. It sells worthless pieces of paper online. Have a look at it yourself. |

Pretty strong words to use! All I can say is that Stella is not a con artist ... both her and her husband are professionals. Her husband is currently teaching at Ankara... University. They have devised a way of learning on-line....... What's the problem with that? |

I don`t like cheats.

Why doesn`t she write that on her website? Pretty standard if you are a legit education provider.
Her husband is currently teaching at Ankara... University.
Probably needs the extra income then.
They have devised a way of learning on-line.......
No they haven`t. They have devised a way of ripping of naiive newbies.

It is illegal. BTW advertising for customers is forbidden by the forum rules. The moderator has been informed. |

Don`t want the unqualified paying a few hundred quid and then getting teaching jobs do we? They should pay 800 and get a CELTA. |
