Hi yall,
Has anyone been to khon Kaen. I have a job offer there that sounds ok, but I know it's a smaller place only 150 thou pop. Any insight would be helpful.

Khon Kaen is one of my favorite cities in Thailand. The people are very friendly and warm. It's pretty well off the tourist beat, so what you get is a pretty authentic Thai experience. You won't find a lot of farang creature comforts outside the Premiere League and the KFC/MickeyD axis (of evil), and most English language films are shown dubbed into Thai. The university is huge, and a great place to hang out. The location is excellent - right in the heart of Isaan - and there are a lot of interesting excursion possibilities in nearly every direction, from forests, dams and reservoirs, to rustic silk-weaving village life, to many other kicking Isaan cities just a short bus or train ride away. I wasn't making much money when I was there, but then again I hardly got a chance to spend much of it. I miss those days, and the many friends I made there.
Go. Enjoy.
