Flat prices in the city have gone through the roof in the last 2-4 months. Prices are unbelievably high in comparison with last year. There's a good article here about it:

Good luck if you're coming to the city soon...

What a shame... the one ray of hope in the article was that the rents in the expensive areas are only going up by 5%. Relatively, that might make it the best value for peso, no? Man, the end of my contract can't get here soon enough. |

I have a friend that is offering to rent me their one bedroom apartment in Palermo Barrio for about $425 pesos a month. Does this sound about right to those of you who have experience in apartment shopping. I don't know the city although it seems to be in a nice area of the town and close to everything. It is a basic, small flat with all necessary amenities...Any feedback would be great. |

Wow that sounds great. Furnished apts are sooo expensive and that could very well be a great deal. I would love to check it out if you dont |

Yep, sounds like a good price-any idea of which part of Palermo? Palermo covers a pretty big part of the city. Likely to be really small but with the way prices are going at the mo it's a great deal. Does it include the service charge and rates???
One of my students was telling me the other day that he owns a flat and his tenant signed a 2 year lease (a normal length of time here) 4 months ago. He could now charge 30% more but can't change anything due to the contract... |
