What does a typical contract offer in terms of hours, pay, vacation, schedule, etc? Also, what does a 1 bedroom apt. in a decent part of town cost (please specify furnished or unfurnished)? In addition, what are other costs to factor in- utilities, food, transportation in the city, etc? I don't go out a lot, but would like to be able to afford eating out a restaurant once a week. I live a pretty low key lifestyle, but don't want to be scraping by either. Any advice you have about teaching or living in Buenos Aires is also appreciated. Also, please specifiy if the prices you are giving are in US dollars or Argentine pesos. Thanks!

You can get by living the kind of lifestyle that your have described on about $500 US a month. Maybe a little less but I wouldn't count on it since rent is going up so much (according to Matt's posts). I am not a teacher but have heard you get anywhere from $10-$15 Argentine pesos an hour teaching (and this is not likely to increase much with so many teachers going to the area).
