I have one year teaching experience and a TESOL certificate whereas my partner has a BA and one year teaching experience, and we are both canadian. Does anybody know of where i can search for a job? thanks |

The size of Macau makes it is a very limited market, and there is no shortage of qualified native speaker ex-pat residents. One really needs to be here in order to secure a position in HK, and in Macau this is even more pronounced.
You may want to keep an eye on the hard copy of the South China Morning Post and on the online variant, however. There may occasionally be advertisements there for posts in Macau.
Others would have to confirm this, but I think you may need a few more qualifications and a bit more experience before being able to secure employment in Macau. As I say, it's a limited market with an existing ex-pat population, with many others very near by.
Good luck though as Macau is a great place, though it is clearly changing. Though some parts are still fairly quaint (such as the old city centre and the lighthouse), others are now patrolled by Mainland prostitutes and their Triad pimps (around and near to the casinos). These casinos are okay, if a little plastic, and English is widely spoken throughout the city, as is Cantonese and Mandarin. I like the city's surface Mediterranean flavour, which of course stems from the underlying and interesting confluence of Cantonese and Portuguese cultures. It's a great place to visit, but I am not so sure about living there. I suspect it could easily become boring. |
