I am thinking of coming to teach in Thailand. I've been offered a position in a smaller northern province. I'd be making 22,000baht per month. I've been told my accomodations would be basic, with no fridge, TV, AC or internet connection. Part of me is intrigued but on the other hand I feel I could get bored very quickly. Any suggestions? What is the best way to go about finding work in Thailand? I am willing to work outside of Bangkok. What other cities are nice? |

The salary is a bit low but out in the provinces it will almost always be lower than in Bangkok. But then your cost of living will be lower.
Exactly where would you be? Have you been to Thailand before? Have you taught before? Have you any Thai friends? Can you speak thai? Eat Thai food?
Depending on the answers and your ability to maybe forsake western food and western company you could either really love it or be driven to distraction within a week as everything shuts at 6pm.
We are coming up to the rainy season and already the temperature and humidity is rising, no AC could make your life a misery. Would you be teaching in AC?
A bit more info would be helpful for a more detailed reply. |
