Thanks for the tips

I'm in Fukuoka so I'm out luck on the Tokyo drug stores. I'll check for the names though, maybe they might have a branch here. If worse comes to worse that foriegn buyers club is a good idea.

This is the shampoo that my pharmacist recommends.
Notice that the first word, at the top, is "fuke", meaning dandruff.
The price is, as you can see, about $4 US dollars.
The shampoo's called "okuto", from "Lion" brand company. The middle line says it's "medicated shampoo". (Can you see the line that says this ? The first kanji on that line is "medicine"; the last few katakana on the same line are "shampoo".)

The line that starts with "mild" in katakana just says that this shampoo has a mild floral scent.

My pharmacist says that if you want relief from dandruff, there're 3 things you can use: 1) shampoo, ) medicine, or 3) hair tonic (rubbed through your hair onto your scalp). Hair tonic, by the way, is simply pronounced in katakana: He-a tonikku. Hair tonic. Easy.

Good luck, OP. --Sethness

"medicated" shampoos simply act as glue for your scalp. It doesn't "cure" the problem, merely the symptoms.
Use the regular shampoo and soap routine I suggested to "cure" your problem so it never returns.

While we're on the subject, does anyone know of a shampoo that gives extra body ? Back home shampoos usually come in 3 flavours : dry hair; oily hair; fine hair etc. The stuff in japan gives you a bad hair day EVERY day Sad
Any tips on local brands or other availabilty ? Most of the foreign brands on sale here are those over-priced salon jobs. Maybe great for women...
