I understand that visas are not needed for EU members going to the Ukraine.

Does anyone know if this is also true for Americans. Or do we still have to shell out a $100?

I live in Cracow and if I don't need a visa I just might stay for another year.

Thanks in advance,

G

it looks like Americans still need a visa for Ukraine. Good luck!

That's too bad. I was hoping to see the Ukraine again.

Oh well there is always the Baltics.

Thanks.

euh?
we don't need visas anymore??

Great!
last time i checked it still cost me a good deal of money.
but i read this is just until sept 1st... why is that then? just to cater to the tourist industry?

how about other CIS countries following this example?

regards,
dajiang

Hi there,
Yes, it's true that this VISA lifting thing is until 1st September, and the main reason for that is the Eurovision, in Kiev some time in May, and also, it's a little test by the new administration to see what life is like without VISAs, so a good idea for all Europeans to come and check out Ukraine, especially Kiev. Absolutely great!
Accommodation is not too cheap as Ukraine isn't really set up for tourism...yet...as I type, I believe that budget accommodation is being built.
Enjoy Ukraine
I Smile

I forgot,
it's different for each CIS country. In some, I think Kazakhstan, Armenia, maybe Azeri, and Kyrgyz, 21 day (I think) tourist VISAs can be purchased at the border as long as you have an onward flight / return ticket.
As for Belarus.....well, forget it. We have to wait till they win the Eurovision
I Very Happy

Good visa info for all countries (well, for American citizens anyway) can be found at www.zvs.com

Um, sorry, help a Yankee out here... Eurovision? Is that a soccer competition or something? Just curious - no offense intended.

Don't worry, Americans tend not to know about Eurovision. It's just a song contest among European countries, and is being held in Kiev this year.
