Sooooo...Capergirl, I guess there is no "pub philosophizing" in the UAE because there are no pubs, right? Does not seem to bother "doors' in Qatar, however. He does plenty of "philosophizing'."doors" has been unusually quiet lately.Maybe he is on vacation.
MartinK, I really do NOT know Beckham's wife's name. I am not dying to know, either.
Politicians?Well,a lot of them(not all) could not make it as lawyers or anything else,so they went into politics to feather their own nests and put as much loot as possible in their pockets. Not ALL of them, but a lot of them.Although of course, they will ALL babble about the "common welfare","the good of the people"...blah.blah If they are so wonderful, why do we still have so many problems in the world? |

Actually, I have never been to the UAE. However, my students tell me that there are bars in the UAE but that they are specifically for foreigners. I asked them what would happen if they were to go to a bar in their country and order a drink. They said they would be served but if they were caught drinking alcohol in a bar, they would end up in jail for a week.
Doors is in Qatar? So is my former boss...."small world". |

O.k everybody
First of all lets get the big question out of the way and then deal with the small stuff . Her name is Victoria and she was known as posh spice when in a certain girlie group which thankfully is no longer with us and she now bonks one D Beckham O.B.E on a regular basis . O.K,thats the really important stuff dealt with now to George and Tony . There is no doubt in my mind that these two do not deserve anything more than at least another term in office to carry on the good work basically kicking ass and kicking it good ,criminal tribunal PLEEZE give me a break what will that prove or achieve it will only show those people who choose to live outside the law that we can't stick together when it counts most against a common enemy, the Frogs and the Krauts have a lot to answer for and really should have stopped messing about and got on with the job ,that way it would have finished sooner and less people would have ended up dead . My only complaint was that this whole farce could have being finished a lot sooner had people stuck together the innoncent were always going to be caught up in the middle if we hadn't gone in their own leader would have done the job for us . |

Interesting how a discussion about huge political lies that have resulted in a country's invasion and the killing of thousands of people has turned into garbage.
Perhaps, we as a people (world citizens) deserve what we get?

Dear svrart.
" Perhaps, we as a people (world citizens) deserve what we get? "
If you voted for Dubya or Nader or didn't vote ( presuming you can ), then maybe you have gotten what you deserve. However, if you went to the trouble of getting an absentee ballot, going out to the embassy and then spending more money ( besides all the taxi fares ) to mail in a vote for Gore ( as I did - and my state, New Mexico, went Democratic, I'm happy to say, in a very close vote ), then I don't think you do ( deserve what we got, that is ). What really does bothers me, though, are the people who did nothing to prevent someone like Bush getting in and then sit back and cavil. Not that I'm saying you're one of them. For all I know, you tried your best to prevent it ( I certainly did ).
Regards,
John |

I doubt if Svrart voted in the past U.S. presidential election. If memory serves(of course I might be mistaken) he is not an Americam citizen.Think I gleaned that from another thread. And while he sits back and criticizes the country he is in , I betcha he is still enjoying his time in Florida."Thousands" killed? Is that true? I thought it was hundreds.I am not saying that is good, but let's be a little more accurate with our figures, before someone ups it to millions.
I also voted by absentee ballot,so I do not think I "deserve" the current government. I do not care for this "Oh ,society is wrong.Let's all go beat our heads againt the wall" theory of collective guilt.. |

The latest figures that I have seen have put Iraqi civilian deaths between 3000 and 4000. |

[quote="bnix"]Believe it or not, there are actually people in the world who could care less about him and his ex-Spice Wife girl friend, whatever her name is.
For the record her name is Her Royal Hairness. Wife of the Foot himself. Or should I say Hairself.
As for where I get my news...well... this has been on the front page of Guardian UK for almost 2 weeks. I am not making it up but the real truth is even more alarming. And the Guardian would never provide misinformation would they? Not about the footie or the news either. |

Dear all........and Johnslat,
As far as this Normal thread goes. I vote for the football side ot it. I dont like Beckham, but he is more interesting then the expert political commentary that floats around this Cyberblock. As far as Bush, goes, I do not like him either. But saying that Nader people are weak for not voting for Gore is a Joke. Maybe if Gore had tried to get more Nader supporters into the Gore camp, then things might have been different. But I find he should be the one to blame And since when does a country have to have citizens that only vote for two parties. I gladly did not vote in the last election. I found all the runners lacking. But most importantly.......I hate Real Madrid........Madrid Athletico for me.......Or Spartak Moskva..........

Dear M.
Here's a suggestion - if a worldly-wise guy such as you doesn't find " expert political commentary " interesting, why not just pass it by? Save your time and energy for what really matters - football.

For those that care, here is a link carried on Yahoo news page since the beginning of the war:
http://www.iraqbodycount.net/bodycount.htm
It gives the number as between 5000 and 7000. This only counts civilians and although we feel that our soldiers are worthy of being counted in death - US government policy is that the Iraqis who fight back are not worthy of counting. But that number is certainly multiples of the number of civilians.
With another death of a US soldier yesterday, that number must be to 200 by now. Unfortunately not yet enough to get the attention of the American populace.
And, Yes I voted for Gore as did the majority of Americans who voted. Bush was 'elected' by the Supreme Court.

Hi İts me
I noticed that the recent deaths of service men only seem to concern U.S soldiers ,is this because unlike the British servicemen they are only there as a peacekeeping element/ law enforcers ,whereas said Brits are actually helping to repair the infastructure of the place ,what do you think ? |
