My Turn > Did you never get laid until you came to Suzhou ? There are beautiful girls in every city I have been to on this planet.Once you have seen one gaarden you have seen them all . I am not particularly into handi crafts. I think the town is very nice and the people are very nice I have been here 7 months but I am longing for a night out. You can't score a smoke here and you definitely cant buy any rizlas . I am not into towns that are developing at such a pace to fill western companies pockets.
As for Wuhan it is south of here . I do know where it is coz I bought one of those map things. I am not a horse or a dog so Whoa there means *beep* all to me. Good to here some positive things about Wuhan from others .
If Suzhou is as good as it gets then I want my money back.
Get me away from Mexican restaurants and Macdonalds and KFC coz we got all that shit in Brighton

Hmmm.

Maybe you should get your money back...it sounds like China is just going to bring you down so much. Althought I've been successful in all of the ventures you've referred to in EVERY town I've spent much time at all in; it did take some time and patience.

I'm talking about places to live in for a while. When you've lived here a long time a decent enchilada or a real cheeseburger becomes a definite comfort; I wouldn't recommend McDonald's or KFC to, well, a dog or a horse.

While your map reading skills exceed those of at least those 2 species (Wuhan IS very slightly south of Shanghai) the earlier poster was quite correct in asserting that neither of those places are considered "South China." "Whoa there" was someone else so perhaps you should take those problems to them.

If you've come here looking for a wild scene of Sex, Drugs, Rock 'n' Roll then you aren't going to find them and you've wasted an awful lot of time and money. Wuhan isn't going to casually offer them either. You're probably best served taking in the pale imitation versions to be found in Beijing and Shanghai, and taking the first flight back to Thailand.

Selmo,
as in the PM, these seem to be Chinese generalizations. They don't seem to regard either city as terribly "southern".
Both cities are primarily on the north bank of the river, or are at least astride it? Only explanation for this I can come up with.

Selmo,
south of the Yangtsi/Yangzi/Changjiang people do not normally have heating in their homes (do not know why! Considering how cold it does get in Hunan in January!, even in Guangdong sometimes!), but north of it you can usually expect hotel rooms, train carriages and some homes to be heated, albeit with coal fires!

North and South of the river is a government demarcation line. So if you are in an Army Base 100 meters north of the river you get winter clothes and heat in November/ winter. If you are at an Army base 100 meters south, where it gets plenty cold, sorry, but you are in South China.

Thus it was explained to me by a colleauge who was in the Army
