Hi Folks,
Really appreciate your advice on teaching in Thailand. The only international school signup that I found online is:
International Schools Services, Princeton, NJ (USA)
I filled out the voluminous paperwork and discovered that they have a $160.00 (US) processing fee.
Is this normal?
Any advice about how to apply for International schools in Thailand?
Thanks,
Joe M |

ISS is the most widely used of the services, but also the most expensive. Others (do a search) (specifically AdamJ for one), reported ISS as being the most useful in their successful job searches.
If you are truly qualified for a real international school - realize that the US$160 is a small investment in your new future. The job hunt is not a good place to cut corners.
Just my opinion. |

And one more I just stole off the General Forum.
This is a placement agency that specialises in International Schools:

Hi Guys,
Once again, thanks. Update on ISS.
I filled out the form for ISS and asked for Thailand only. They e-mailed me back that they will not accept a request for only ONE country.
Just a note for those who want to avoid doing the application for nothing.
Pursuing other avenues.
Thanks a bunch,
Joe M. |

I am using Search Associates. Paid 150 dollars to register...It is all last minute now, and I am discouraged as the few emails I have sent to international schools in Bangkok have not brought results. I need to hire a new PR guy....heck, I am a well-qualified and diversified teacher...
What does anyone know about International School Bangkok?
Thanks,

Forget the agencies. I go onbline to Ajarn each day (so MANY ads) and email directly the ones I want. I have several job offers from high schools and a university.
A friend of mine swears by ISB.
Good luck!

Well, Good luck then.
I speak only through my own experience...
I just know that the better international schools will not hire by any other means than the job fairs through the agencies. Yes, I suppose there are many high schools and universities who do not have this policy.
Suerte.

How much do international schools in Thailand pay? Also how many years of experience do you need? |

It truly runs the spectrum....and depends on experience....two years of teaching in a US, British or other western public school or international school is the usual minimum. Certification a must, masters a plus.
