Phuket is a highly competitive work environment. Who doesn't want to "teach on the beach"? Or at least - a beach. Or near a beach?

Take a look here - http://ajarn.com/Regionguides/regionguides.htm
at something I wrote a year or so ago - it is still applicable. I think wages have improved a bit though since it was written.

IF, you are willing to spend some time networking and are patient, decent employment can be found. But it will take some time and some financial staying power to make your place on the island.

Check this page and others on my website about teaching on Phuket
http://phuketdelight.com/teach.htm

Good luck! I hope you love it as much as I do.

I should add that I think females are somewhat in greater demand than males. Kindy experience will help A LOT. A TEFL cert would also be a plus in the local market - as it would anywhere in Thailand.

If you're female (check), qualified (check) and willing to teach kiddies (check), you'll find something.

It will be competitive, none the less. You'll have to dig, and may have to work your way into a setup that will support your lifestyle, instead of getting it a-piece, as one would expect anywhere off a Thai island.

Wages also seem to be generally less than here in Bangers, but the cost of living IMO seems to be a tad higher.
