teaching work? I dont really want to commit to long term work. Ideally I'd like to hangout somewhere for a month or so and then move on. Is this possible?

Not really. You're not offering anything useful to an employer. Certainly you won't get a job anywhere decent which means, at best you stand to get ripped off. You can't get legal work like that either, and with no experience (you didn't mention any) I doubt you could even 'fill in'.
Maybe, it's more possible in SE Asia, but just maybe. You could probably volunteer like that, but I doubt that's what you're after.
The problem is that with networking and experience it is possible, but that alas takes time.
Save enough money, and enjoy your vacation, it's a lovely place to travel around.

Most places require you give a months notice when you intend to quit a job. That would mean handing in your notice at the job interview. Add in airfares, accomodation, set-up and apartment costs and it will cost you more money than you can possibly make in a month. Most people it takes about 4-6 months to break even on their set up costs and airfares.

In Japan contracts/visa are a minimum of a year and most Asian countries are the same as well.
