I havent heard neither bad nor good about this school to be honest. One thing to watch for is how often they advertise for new teachers because a school that has adverts in every month indicates high turnover of staff.

I wouldnt be worried so much about the interview itself as its a chance for the school to put feelers out about you and vice versa. I would be more concerned with taking a look at their work contract and conditions, and see if you can take a look at the terms of the contract. Red flags usually appear in the contract such as penalties etc, rather than in the interview stage, which can often feel 'staged'- a rather artificial atmosphere.

Just did a search of the school, its in Ibaraki-shi which is between Osaka and Kyoto.

Webpage <http://www.osk.3web.ne.jp/~applee/> says teaching hours are 26 hours a week but total work hours could be more. Site says in Japanese that its a dispatch company which could mean some commuting to client schools. Best to find out the distances and if transportation to clients is covered.

Salary is standard for an eikaiwa, mainly teaching kids. Sponsorship and accomodation are provided but it may pay to ask if key money is paid for, if any and if rent is free it means either a room over the school (no privacy for resident) or living with the school owner. Check the details carefully.

Heard nothing negative so far. Where do people choose these school names anyway?

First thing that poped in my head was the old image of children giving their teacher an apple. And apple seems to be one of the first English words kids learn for the letter A.
What I was wondering is where the name Winbe came from?

Thanks for the tips. Reading between the lines=always important.

As for names, Apple's better than most! I can imagine an American kindergarten or something being named that.

Lick English School I originally thought might be named after a non-Japanese owner--it is a legitimate surname, after all, and people seem to have a blind spot on naming things after themselves despite the result sounding ludicrous. But it doesn't appear to be. Laughing
