Hirakata School in Hirakata-shi is hiring, and I'm interested since I'm looking in Kansai right now. Just wondering if anyone has heard of them. The e-mail address listed is at mabuchi.co.jp, so I suppose it may be affiliated with Mabuchi, which appears to run schools under the WillWay and Epion names, none of which return anything from the search here.

I did see a mention of Hirakata city itself, and it seems to be well out from Osaka or Kyoto, but that doesn't matter too much to me. I'd rather not live in central Osaka anyway.

I took a look at the WillWay website and I wonder how many people can be "professional" teachers at the age of twenty, when the minimum requirement for most jobs is a university degree.

Standard pay for an eikaiwa position is usually about 250,000 for a forty hour work week, or 26-27 contact teaching hours.

Mabuchi looks to be a Japanese cram school for students studying for entrance exams, with WillWay a subsidiary English conversation school teaching kids. Cant really make out much more from the website.

Not sure about the school but the Hirakata area seems to be very nice. I used to travel that way to Kyoto on the Keihan line (IMO the nicest train line in the Osaka area, just a shame its so expensive and so crowded most of the time). I've noticed a lot of foreign school students live in Hirakata.

I work for Epion. It`s a subsidary of Willway, a huge company in the Takatsuki/ Hirakat area that provides healthcare services amongst other things. Mabuchi, a cram school, is an off-shoot of this company as well.
It`s a midsized company with schools located in the north Osaka area. The company started in the late 1990s in Hirakata.
The pay is based on a 70 hour 2 week system. The most you can teach is 30 lessons a week (but only a few people do). You can get bonuses if you teach more than 20 classes in a week. The vast majority of students are school age. classes range from 1-8 students.
All public holidays are off. 10 days paid holiday are also given after the 6th month mark.

I`d say most new teachers make 250,000 for the first 7-8 months, after that it depends on how many new students you take on. The school has events twice a year to attract new students. If parents like your teaching style (usually genki and fun) you can pick up quite a few students. I`d say you could earn from 260-280 afterwards.
