Welcome!

Since tomorrow is a no drinking holiday,

we'd better make the most of this evening!

The no drinking thing is totally untrue. We went to eat sushi and they served us Saki.

Dear Gluestick:

Trust me.

For Thais, the 'no drinking thing' on Vishaka Bucha Day is totally true.

They just look the other way for foreigners, who are generally unaware and/or not Buddhist. Wink

Monday was OK according to my students, since it was a substitution day --- but booze on Sunday?

tsk, tsk, tsk. You're all going straight to hell. Twisted Evil Laughing Mr. Green

All joking aside, here's another good website with info on this holiday:

http://www.thaibuddhist.com/wisakhabucha.htm (ThaiBuddhist.com)

PS: Of course there's no law about drinking alcohol on religious holidays.
It's more a matter of etiquette, much like we'd frown on people

on Easter Sunday, or eating a large lunch in public during Ramadan.
