After following this forum now for months, I just have to know the answer to this question:
Molly, Darling... Do u really know who that little Mr 31 is?
Right now, I can see that you are both online on this forum.....are you in the school Library and on the PCs just around the corner from each other?
Please tell all - the suspense is killing me!!! |

Not that bad, after all that crap about East Enders. D.H.W is in its own little world, ok its not high art. Then again theres no screaming, crying and complaining little girles who should be taken out and shoot along with Ian |

I wouldn't mind if Terri Hatcher were taken out back and shot.
Still, it's enough amusement to pass for a Tuesday night. About as amusing as this forum during those long down hours at work. Haven't we all learned by now not to expect much from American TV? If you think these shows are crappy, imagine what's actually on in the US-- we're actually getting the creme of the prime-time crop over here! |

I know!!! It just got better and better! But it's from HBO-- shows on cable are usually better than network.
And now it's gone for awhile, til CNBC-e can get the new season (which is actually from a few years ago-- 6 Feet Under started in the US before I came here, but I only saw the first couple of episodes before the cable company realized we were getting free HBO and cut us off, and I couldn't afford to pay for HBO... I'd been waiting for it to come to Turkey, but never thought it would really happen). |

Not true 31 there are many fine posters here. You are just one of the characters.(I think 31 is the Grant Mitchell of the forum- the one everyone loves to hate )
CSI on a Sunday night on CNBCE is also pretty good, actually Sunday night on CNBCE is the best of the week. Did you see Seinfield last night? Hilarious. |

All those DH haters must be incredibly jealous. Everyone knows that it and any number of American shows are far superior to anything put on BBC prime. In fact most of the shows on CNBC are quite excellent as escapist vehicles go. Witness 6ft Under, DH, Significant Others,Southpark, Scrubs, CSI and so many others. There are notable exceptions such as OC and The World According to Jim.
Additionally, there are the Sopranos on TV8 on Sunday nights at 8. I dare anyone to show me anything on BBC Prime or Basically Boring Crap as I call it that compares with the Sopranos. American TV has improved greatly over the past few years thanks to HBO. There are other programs such as OZ and the Larry Sanders not available here that put to shame anything on BBC. Do a poll in your classroom and see what foriegn shows your adult students are watching. I seriously doubt any are watching Eastenders. Do yourself a favour and watch American TV. You wont regret it. Eastenders a big yawn fest. |

The problem with CNBC is the number of ads. How many times do they get repeated in the same program? Quite often by the time the ads are over I'd forgotten which programI was watching. I think they were fined last year for showing so many ads. doesn't seem to have worked. I agree about the Sopranos. Best thing to come out of the states. I once watched a whole series on DVD in one weekend, it's that addictive |

I agree that coupleing US was pretty crappy. I see that there are now a lot of make-over shows a la bbc on American tv now (have only seen the ads on the internet). more paint drying... face or walls |

Shame on US Coupling. Even my husband likes the BBC one, and he has a hard time understanding it. Also, The Office was one of the best shows I've seen in ages.
I like the autopsies and forensics on CSI, but the wise-cracking and one-liners over the corpses drives me crazy. And I'm a little disappointed with Gary Sinise for making the move to network TV. Cold Case is pretty interesting too-- I like the blue lighting they use to make it more 'cold.'
OZ was one of my favorite shows ever-- I'm still hoping it'll come here, in English, I mean. I remember it was on (in Turkish, before I really understood much) on Cine5 a couple of years ago. I'm hoping for Sopranos too-- I saw a few episodes in the US before my cable was cut off, and it was really interesting. Are they still making new ones? |
