I’m keen on getting the new Mac mini but I was wondering what kind of specific hassles Apple users face in Japan vis a vis compatability issues, using a English OS, software etc and so forth.
BTW my wife is going to get a PC laptop so we’ll be a dual system household |

I use a Mac and have never had any problems. With Mac you can choose whether to use an English OS or a Japanese one.
Software for Macs most stuff is available.
I used to use a PC ((Dell) at my last university and it used to get infected with spam, regular crashes, and popup windows that I couldnt get rid of, I have not had that problem with my Mac. |

I'm just in the process of deciding what kind of new computer I want too. It seems to me the biggest plus with apple is exactly the compatibility issue. You can switch between the J and E os almost at will with no compatibility issues, can't say that for windows. |

I went from a PC to a MAC and it has helped me a lot in Korea. Not so much spam or virus problems. If you go to jandr.com they have good deals on them.....if you have someone visiting you from the United States this can help you save some cash on some of their computers. |
