I am thinking of coming in 2006 to do the whole ESL thing...and I've asked questions around schooling for my daughter and all that....but my question here today is....if I bring a labtop over from Canada...what kind of attachments will I need to bring, if any, so that it will be compatiable with Taiwan?

What voltage does it run on? A mate of mine is here from Canada, and he just plugged his laptop right into the wall no hassles.

I'm looking at it now - he just plugged it right in. Three prong plug.

All laptops on the face of god's green earth have a built in voltage adjuster. This means all you need is the power cord that came with the laptop and you can plug in in any country in the world. Look on the bottom of that box that sits midway up the power cord and you'll likely see something like 110-240V, 50-60mA. Which means, basically, "anything's okay, this machine can handle it."

To top things off, many of the parts inside your laptop come from Taiwan, and Taiwan runs on 110v current, unlike everywhere else in the world apart from North America. So even if you laptop didn't have a built in voltage adjuster, it likely wouldn't need one.

The plugs here are even the same style as North American ones -- two prong flat bladed. Three hole plugs are rarer in older buildings, but adapters for the ol' two to three switch are easy to hound up here.
