The first Session of International Seminar
On China�s Foreign Language Teaching Methodologies.
In order to welcome the New Century�s foreign language teaching development and take up the challenges in the respect, the foreign language Professional Directing Committee and College Foreign Language directing committee of the Higher Learning under the Education Ministry make a decision to hold The first Session of International Seminar On China�s Foreign Language Teaching Methodology in Shanghai on March 5th-9th, 2004 with the subject �Retrospect, Research and prospect of China�s Foreign Language Methodology.� At the prescribed time, well-known linguists and methodologists at home and abroad are kindly invited to deliver speeches and preside over our seminar. The working languages for the seminar are respectively English and Chinese. Now we solicit theses around the whole world.
Contents for the solicited theses consist mainly of: 1) Theoretical Research on Foreign language teaching, including teaching ideologies and conceptions, the difference between foreign language teaching and the 2nd language teaching, linguistic teachings in cross-cultural environment in the new epoch and research on linguistic teaching adaptability; 2) practical research on foreign language teaching, including designing of syllabi and curricula, teaching methods and evaluations, orientations of English Major and Non- English Major teaching reforms, and the cultivation of multiple-talented persons; 3) comparative research on textbooks, including compiling and selection of textbooks; 4) research on supplemental teaching facilities, inclusive of the applications and feasibility of multimedia and network; 5) research on teaching modes, inclusive of Publish Foreign Language teaching modes with Chinese characteristics and bilingual teaching; and 6) others, such as social-cultural location of English teaching in China, the relationship between linguistic teaching and social development.
The organizing committee will give priority to in-depth theoretical theses and case study papers and publish a collection of the excellent theses.

I wonder why some of our resident experts don't submit their reform ideas at this conference or the other one I will dredge up. |
