Dear all,
"GOD BLESS TEFL/TESOL JOBS"
Last February 2003, I endorsed a Saudi teaching visa (IT IS STILL STUCK IN MY PASSPORT), and I was supposed to be in Saudi by that time. Unfortunately, It did not happen due to WAR THREAT. At that time, I decided to give it some time, and WAIT & SEE.
No, I am thinking to land another job in the KSA next Jnuary 2004, and I am worried about getting another visa.
Do you think that my first employer put me on BLACKLIST? Can I endorse another visa with a different institution? Will the embassy simply refuse my application because the fact that I did not go?
What is the law?
PLEASE ADVISE, AND ENJOY THE REST OF YOUR DAY! |

Dear lionbrian,
Hmm, maybe Stephen Jones can help out here - he seems to know an awful lot about the ins and outs of Saudi rules and regs. Not knowing the employer's identity might be a problem, so perhaps PMing him and telling him that and all the circumstances would be a good idea. My personal guess, but that's all it is, is that you'd probably get away with another visa.
Inefficiency can work for you here, as well as against you. I'll also ask around to see if anyone I know has more reliable info.
Regards,
John |

Perhaps the most direct way to clear this up (if it is even a problem at all) is to get a new passport.
I have no first-hand information of any teacher ever being blacklisted. I wouldn't be surprised if it is all an urban rumor. Even if it did exisit, you would have to assume it would work at the normal level of Saudi efficiency.
If you are worried, wash your passport. |

Get a new passport.
That is the easiest option. |
