I'm sorry ... I'll delete my silly joke. Didn't mean to cause offense.

This is getting so nasty that I'm embarrassed to be a part of it. Maybe if we thought about VENEZUELA, or else posted elsewhere.

So, what about teaching oportunities these days? Is it easy to find work outside of Caracas? I've heard that Venezuela is beautiful, but while I can take Quito, I've heard Caracas is rough.

I'm also thinking about doing a masters at a latin american university, probably education and development. Know any good universities situated in good towns to find teaching work?

Or what's happening in the political realm, and how long will the economic growth last?

Stuff like this...

Regards,

Justin

PS This post contains gratuitous errors in use of English. So if you don't have anything nice to say, just pick it apart. Just wanted to keep everybody happy and busy...

I guess I've let my hatred for Moonraven get the best of me. I've been reading these forums for half a year, and I finally just couldn't take her any more. I know I am not the only one that feels this way, but I guess I will just keep it to myself from now on. (But you have to admit, some of my book titles had to have given some people good laughs.)

As for Venezuela ... we should probably start a new thread on it! Laughing

Johnny: Instead of starting a new thread, it would be helpful to stop smearing your hatred of me (whom you do not even know!) all over this one. Hatred is not appropriate on this forum--nor anywhere else. Take an anger management course. Or find a therapist who treats folks who hate women, older people, folks with brown or black skin and anyone else who doesn't share the KKK world view.

Justin: Good questions and also appropriate for a thread called "Venezuela".

I have never had problems in Caracas. And I have walked around what is considered to be a fairly rough area at night (Candelaria). My boyfriend there was mugged not far from his house a year and a half ago, however. (He is not clueless, and looks like a tough customer, so we were both surprised.) Caracas is at least 3 times the size of Quito, but probably about 10% as dangerous for foreigners. (The traditionally rough areas in the hillsides are not areas frequented by foreigners anyway.)

For a master's and a nice town: Universidad del los Andes in Mrida.

What's happening in the political realm has been smeared all over newspapers and Internet for the past week: 1) Venezuela's defeat of Bush and Rice at the OAS meeting, 2) Roger Noriega's diversionary tactic OAS tantrum accusing Chvez of creating the political problems in Bolivia, 3) Chvez's actual solving solving the standoff in Bolivia by mediating between former president Mesa and Evo Morales, and Mesa's declaration that Chvez was in no way responsible for the problems in Bolivia, 4) Chvez's declaration that Bush was responsible for the problems in Venezuela.

Economic growth is predicted to be about 12% for 2005.

You bitter old MOD EDIT! I don't hate women, old people or people with brown/black skin. Where in the world did I insult non-whites? Cool I love my brown-skinned boyfriend! Cool Just like my dad, I fall for cocoa-skinned Latinas ... well, in my case, Latinos! Cool

The only people I can't stand are nasty, cranky, arrogant trolls who turn EVERY SINGLE THREAD that they are a part of into an argument and a flame war. Almost no one likes you here. You are so bellicose and quarrelsome. You get off from rudely correcting the typos of others.

If you look at my other threads, you will realize that this is the only one where I've gotten nasty. If we look at yours, you'll realize that you are supremely nasty in 85% of the threads you take part in.

If you want to dish it out, you need to learn to take it.

As for other mean-spitited misogynists/ageists on this forum like Johnny the MAN (how transparent can you be, woman-hater?), please be advised than Moonraven doesn't HATE 99% of native English speakers--hating is an activity specific to misogynists/ageists like you--she just isn't comfortable being around most of them.

Maybe because they are nasty little twerps like you? Possibily.

And please be advised that crones (witches) are both politically correct AND powerful. This one has plenty of candidates, always, for her bed. A superfluity of riches. No pasty-faced adolescents need apply.

"Spitited"?

If you're going to criticise others for their typos then at least get it right yourself. Shot yourself in the foot again.

I don't criticize people for typos. Yours was not a typo.

How the adjective ecuadorian became a adjective that now defines a race and not a nationality?

Moonraven, I also did not capitalize "Ecuadorian"! I guess you missed that one. Do you want a cookie because you can correct someone's grammar errors because I can correct my errors as well? I guess not all of us spend our time trying to post academic quality work on a discussion board. Some of us actually spend our time working on real academic quality work than posting it on this discussion board

Moonraven,

You are one to talk. Forget the fact that Ecuadorian does not refer to a race but even if we assume that the poster was making inappropriate comments about Ecuadorians of a certain race, you called him a racist when you did not even know what race he was. For all you know, the poster could have been the same race as the majority of Ecuadorians. Moonraven, I guess if I said something insulting about the Chinese or Indians that it must be racist. Even though you have no idea what racial group I belong too. I think that this clearly demonstrates moonraven's ignorance.
