Does anyone use firefox? If so why? What advantages does it have and how long does it take to get used to? I've read good things about it bit am a bit apprehensive to make the change. Should I? shouldn't I?

I've been using Firefox for a while now and I'm very satisfied with it. You couldn't pay me to go back to IE.

Depends on what browser you're using -- IE or Netscape, I presume. It took me about, oh, twenty seconds to get used to Firefox. Honest. Installing it is easy and its interface is very similar to other browsers; don't worry that you'll be left floundering trying to figure out how to open a web site because it's just not that hard. What you see when you first open it will be very familiar to you.
Advantages (relative to IE as that was my former browser): better security, very effective popup blocking (not perfect but I can live with seeing one or two popups every week or two, which is way less than I got with IE), tabbed browsing, easier downloading (not that it was hard with IE, but I'm rather lazy so I like being able to do this with fewer steps), simple to customize, and cool extensions to play with (something you'll only care about if you're a bit of a geek, I think).
My advice would be to install it and play with it for a week or so. If you don't like it, it's easy to get rid of. Besides, it's not like you have to uninstall your current browser to use Firefox.
P.S. -- If you decide not to go with Firefox, at least look into a good anti-spyware program (assuming you don't have one already). Spyware was a major problem for me with IE but running Ad-Aware helped. You can find it and many others at a site like www.download.com. Best part is, it was both effective and free! |

Good luck and have fun, dmb. Let us know how the experiement turns out. I think you'll be pleased with it. If not, there's always Opera.
(This has not been a paid advertisement for the good folks at Mozilla...damn it.) |

Well I have made the switch. it seems a bit weird. The layout on this forum is different. Images including emoticons seem to take longer to appear but no pop-ups the reason for me trying it out |
