A friend of mine is considering doing the 40 TEFL course with this company. Apparently they guarantee you a place teaching after paying them the 600 for the course. Has anyone any experience of the company, is this is a wise move? I get the impression until she gets some experience with i-to-i she might not get work with other companies and they know it, kind of thing.

Any advice/experience?

Don't bother. Almost all of the better schools in Poland and certainly all the ones which are members of PASE (Polish Association for Standards in English) or EQUALS insist on a minimum four week full-time course such as the CELTA. A 40 hour course is simply not going to cut it.

You can do the CELTA at IH in Wroclaw for 650. Once you have a CELTA and are in Poland it is very difficult indeed to not find some kind of TEFL job!

Apart from anything else I had a quick look at the webpage for Poland on i-to-i TEFL's site and they say salary is between 600-2,000 Zlotys per month. Sorry but you should be earning that much per week not per month. If they are quoting such low salaries then you can bet they hook you up with guaranteed jobs at schools which you would probably want to think long and hard about working at.

wrong actually, the OP got the I TO I story wrong. You get 2400-3600 zloty per month not 600-2000 zloty per month. You need a degree, EU passport, native speaker to back that 60 hour/40 hour TEFL diploma up. None the less you need a 4 week TEFL course cert.
