Just wondering if anyone has any experience with EC either in its language school or the translation/editing/rewriting division.

Thanks.

I have a friend who used to work at EC in the translation division. What would you like to know?

I don't know, but according to this post, it might be a job to stay away from.

Wow, that's pretty far out there. The school sounds pretty insane. I actually noticed an ad for a rewriter posted by EC's translation division, so I was more curious about that. I don't know if it's as bad as the school, but I think I'll be very cautious. As for info about the translation department, anything would be appreciated. Work enviornment, required overtime, etc.

Colleague of mine used to work as a translator there. VERY lonely job. Don't expect much in the way of assistance, either, so if you get something fairly technical to translate, you're on your own.

Usually, there were daily deadlines, and at certain times you got material with a few days' deadline. Can't recall if there was any OT pay, just get the job done by the deadline.

Did I mention it was a lonely job? Basically, the staff on your own floor hardly speaks to each other, let alone to staff on other floors.
