Well, well, well.. Who out of the former GHQ English teachers are actually surprised at the ugly turn of events that the HCT/CERT has foisted upon us? Did any of you really believe what the lying Dr. T.K.(now HCT vice chancellor) said to us about none of us losing our jobs or money? Now that the HCT is going to pay us a lesser salary than the military is, I wonder how many of us will actively be looking elsewhere in the UAE for jobs? Did HCT/CERT and B.K. with his smugness reallly think the "you can take it or leave it" attitude was going to be a success over the long run or endear employee loyalty and positive work ethics from us? I think HCT needs some HR 101. They will also need some serious help when they start to deal with the military (that wil be funny). As they are used to being AT BEST a prep school for emiratis between the time they leave high school and get married/get pregnant, who are they kidding?
Word to those outside the UAE: So you think the HCT is one of the better places in which to apply for work? Watch this space and you will see. Better for you to stay in a country that where, when you get a new contractor who takes over your employment, you actually get paid more money, not less.
P.S. my new hero is J. Langley way to go man..
P.P.S. If you doubt the sincerity or truthfulness of this post, see my earlier post: " So are you thinking...HCT/MLI." or better yet, just wait for the other former MLI'ers/now CERTvictims to post here.

Hey,
CERT's doing real evil to what's left of MLI, but CERT's not HCT; a memo went out today from Uncle saying HCT had been a cover story, and really CERT had been taking over. CERT is to HCT what the mafia is to Italy: a nasty part but not the whole thing.
Word is too folks who signed up with teach at least 20 hours weekly, and be moved about as CERT wishes.
The military fired CERT once at KAC; came back, though, and the second firing will take longer. Pity folks who try to hang on. |

It's a nasty messy disgraceful situation, but this statement confused me. Could you make that a bit clearer?
Definitely correct that CERT/MLI doesn't equal HCT. With HCT, you get an actual contract.

Uncle's Memo went out to various coordinators; they were told to share it will staff. The memo's out at KAC at least.
It says teachers will work at least 20 hours weekly, and may be relocated as CERT needs. It also says we all work for CERT, not HCT, and HCT standards, policies, do not necessarily apply.
As for HCT and CERT: HCT is a lot like GHQ, slow working and arkward, and far too over centralized. Unlike CERT though, it's aim is not just to make money. CERT's a business, and a corrupt one at that.
Hope that's clearer.

Just curious, but what other business does CERT do? Originally it was just to develop a program for the students who couldn't manage to get into HCT or graduate out of the foundation program at UAEU. I'm sort of confused at to how it can be considered a 'business' when it is essentially a creation of the Ministry of Higher Education now doing contracts for other Ministries - like MLI for GHQ??
Isn't that sort of like taking money from your left pocket and putting it in the right? Do they have any divisions that collect tuition from students?

Ah, I see. That explains why I have to learn about it on the internet.
Thanks. |
