I want to get rid of some clothes I brought over from Canada. I don't want to throw them in the garbage since they can still be used.
Does anyone know of a place in Osaka that accepts used clothing? for profit, or non profit. I don't really care just as long as I don't see the clothes in the trash. |

good topic. I have thought about this myself.
Maybe there are certain days that you can put clothes out with recyclable materials. In Kanagawa, at least I can. |

Maybe check with a few of the large churches. We used to regularly collect clean used clothes and send it to another church in the Philippines who distributed it free to the people in the slums.
The churches here may also distribute the clothes locally to some of the many homeless people in Japan. |

I revel in the thought of a Japanese thrift store...oh, that would be grand.

There are many. MANY.... Unfortunately the concept of "thrift store" is lost here and most of the shops I've seen sell only SEVERELY over-priced, trendy, American clothes.... Some smart Japanese businessmen raided all the sally-anns and Goodwill stores back in N. America, and are making a serious KILLING selling this stuff to Japanese teen-agers. |

I have seen lots of used clothing shops in Japan. We often buy kids clothes for 100-400 yen each. Great bargain when little kids never wear out of their clothes, they grow out of them too fast. |

do you have a book off near you? they deal in used books but they also have house off and numerous other branches, they take used clothes. otherwise sign up for the free yahoo group
tell and sell
you might even be able to get some money for them, there are always clothes up for sale on there.
