I am a UK trained Phys Ed teacher with seven years experience, I have taught P.E, Maths (lower school), and key skills in tough UK comps.

I can also do personal training.

What are my chances of finding some work in HK?

Can I just turn up and get work / visa there? Is a TEFL or CELTA an absoloute must for teaching English there?

Any help appreciated

Hi Mrjack, you could try looking for work in an international school. Have a look at http://www.esf.edu.hk/ (English Schools Foundation - lots of international schools in HK). They may have openings for PE teachers.

There are two or three advertisements for qualified English-speaking PE teachers in today's (25.06.05) SCMP.

Keep an eye on the following if you are not able to obtain a copy of the hard edition:

Hi,

Your chances are pretty high in my book. A TEFL and stuff is a big big plus if you want to work legally. One way in for you may be to start off with one of the big fitness chains like california fitness and get them to sponsor stuff and once you are on your feet cast around for lucrative private work and it is out there. Fifty quid an hour or so was quite common amongst personal trainer types, tennis coaches etc etc.
Good luck.
