It's that time of the year again. One year is over and now we're all walking around looking at schools and trying to decided where to go.

So a word to the wise Ey�boğlu, may be worth giving a miss. I'm hearing some strang things coming out of there. Doğa K-12 and Bati are owned by our friends at E.T and the rates and conditions are beyond a joke and Yuz Lil in Kartal had problems paying on time. It goes on and on.

Would anyone have anything to say about these or other well know schools for the next academic year. So lets get some info going on these schools. Perhapes a blacked listed should be strated.

Wherever English Crime go they lower the bar. Hourly pay in a lise is probably on the cards.

I can't because i haven't worked in k-12 in over a decade. Others have far more experience than me. I can tell what some friends say about their schools.

Hi there Calsimsek,

The only thing I know about Doğa Koleji is that they're using the building formerly used by G�kdil Koleji ... next to Bostancı Oto Sanayı ... not a great location ... they might have another campus elsewhere though.

I don't what you've heard about Eyuboglu, but on the whole they're a well-organized school, that will expect you to work hard for a good salary. They're also established members of the IBO - the North African tribe that sing Ibrahim Tatlises songs :-))

Cheat on their partners with much younger and more beautiful women?

Get obsessed with Asena?

Sleep with Perihan Savas and have a son Ido with her?
Speak a little English?
Not learn to read and write until they are adults?
Only employ people from Urfa?

bati koleji is not owned by ET but Doga Koleji is. Doga's main campus is near Beykoz, a fabulous campus with a horse stable, garden, pools, etc. I really don't know much about the pay or conditions there, as I am not in charge of it, but I have been to the campus several times and it is lovely. ET also owns Gokdil Koleji and Tepe Koleji, and I don't know much about them either. I do know all three schools were about to fold until ET took them over, so you can criticize all you want, but at least they are still afloat.

One wonders though how many trees they had to cut down to build the place ... maybe it should be called Doğaya Karşı Koleji :-((

as far as i remember you are teaching maths and i want to know what you are thinking about teaching some subjects like maths ,physics or chemistry in a foreign language. ı dont think it is a good idea because i am a very good example of this and dont know anythig about these subjects as all were taught in English.

Dear WhyNotMe,

As you probably know, next year, maths and science lessons in the Anodolu Lises will start to be taught in Turkish. The colleges will then probably follow suit. In practice this won't change things that much: Although the high schools may have been using maths & science text books written in English, 99% of what the teachers -said- in the lesson was in Turkish.

I presume you're a graduate of the old orta prep system ... and you feel it did you no favours. That as may be, however, I think the orta prep system was certainly better than this lise prep system: Most students start lise prep at the age of 14 and ... compared to 11 ... that's really too old to learn a foreign language. For them then to learn maths and science in a language they don't feel confident in becomes virtually an impossible task. This coupled with the fact that the omnipresent �SS is of course in Turkish has made a mockery of the whole system.

For many students learning mathematics is difficult enough ... and many of those see learning the subject in English as yet another hurdle in their path. Indeed many of my lise 1 students this year would ask me to explain things in Turkish ... which defeats the whole object of me being there.

In one or two schools the Anadolu Lise system works fine. These may be schools, in the case of Ko�, that have continued (illegally) teaching maths & science in English in their primary school or schools, in the case of Robert, that take in high calibre students at Lise prep. What's more, for many of their students, the IB is more important than the �SS, as about half of them will study abroad.

These elite schools aside, the present sytem does not work in the -normal-schools and should be changed. I'm just so very glad that I jumped ship to an international school at the right time :)
