Neat-o, I'm from Pittsburgh, too.
And recently ate a pork kidney dinner (crazy Austrians.) To each their own. |

I do apologize for the ignorance, but I thought non US dollars usually had things like CAN and HK and AUS before or after the dollar sign. So I assumed this one was the American dollar (becuause it is the most common dollar). I probably didn't have to make this mistake though if the article was cited.
You know, humans hunting whales aren't the only reason either. There are hundreds of kinds of whales, and some threaten others because they have gotten larger in population. They just sort of ran this whale story on "uwasa no tokyo magazine", and that's one of the things they were talking about.
I find the idea of eating kangaroo meat to be quite disgusting too, but that's just me. |

| I guess it really depends on where the articles are coming from and to whom they are written for. |

This post has strayed from sperm whales to sperm tales.
In answer to the original question, yes, I find it disgusting that people kill whales. As a vegetarian, I also find it disgusting that people kill dogs, dolphins, chickens, pigs and cows. |

Soap box time,
I find people that eat are disgusting. All that slurping and slapping of saliva. Have you ever seen a grown man lick his plate. Its a sight that will get you nuking gay unborn whales for Jesus. Eating's an outdated practice, lets fast away the human race for the benefit of all the plants and animals. They can feast away on our remains, greedy bustards.
While I'm at it sustain the seal hunt. Their population is out of control and they've destroyed the cod fishing industry. Activists never look at the figures they just look at the cause. If its cute and Disney had or could make a movie out of it their worth saving. Not too many save the endangered beach rat people out there. Maybe the whales Japan's hunting are over-stalked right now? If it really is endangered whales naturally its disgusting and I'm sure no one here, barring whale burger plate lickers, will disagree. |

I just thought it was funny that whale meat was compared to beef. What's the point making it taste the same?!?!? If you want beef, why not just eat a cow?

Denise,
Beef and Chicken seem to be the main meats all other exotic meats are compared to. |

Look all you people criticizing the Japanese for eating whale meat are hypocrites unless you are a full vegetarian! What is the difference between eating cow or whale? None if you are the cow!
I personally don't eat whale, but I do love steaks so I don't pass judgement! |

I think the extinction factor has to be an important consideration. I really don't know what kind of whales the Japanese whalers are getting and I am sure they don't care either.
For scientific purposes? Come on. Maybe if a taste test can be called scientific.
Which is better? Blue whale or gray? |
