My wife has just said this as she is cooking shepherd`s pie for lunch. We have a lot of yoghurt that we need to use up so she is going to make cacik. I hesitated as I have some gravy granules which I usually use as I like gravy with shepherd`s pie but have relented after realising that we don`t want to waste the cacik and that she might change her mind and not make shepherd`s pie.

Please vote and I will tell you all tonight if it giders or not.

Hay great never knew you were married , Is she Turkish, if so that would explain your strong hold on most things Turkish.

Yes I am married and have 2 young children. Of course she was my student. I suppose most people who have been here a long time are. How did dmb escape?

Now some will question if you are telling the truth. I on the other hand will accept your word without question.

Once again welcome to the club. Two young kids must be hard, it's real problem bring kids up in Turkey, lots of my firends have given up trying and have moved back home. Still I plan to make ago of it.

Thanks Calsimsek. If there is anyone out there who doubts it I could always start a thread listing complaints about bringing up young children in Turkey. And before single teflers start on about how easy it is in a kid friendly country like Turkey please try it yourself and a few years down the line you will realise.

I too would go back to the Uk if I could afford to. It is not only the cost of medical expenses etc. but no parent wants to (potentially) disadvantage their kids.

Funnily enough what has caused the most hassle is names for the babies, religon and relatives.

why hassle ? give them Turkish names and raise them as Muslims so no problem 31.

why don't you compromise. That's what marriage is about isn't. Mix the cacik in with the mashed potato before you put it in the oven. Then pour the gravy on top.

I'm in the middle of that issue right now. Relatives and religion is not big problem but the name God help me.

Yes Turks can be child friendly, but Istanbul is not. When I was kid I had place to run and ride my bike, unless you live in a big site like Ataşheir or Atak�y there really little chance for kid to run around in this city.

You know you should start that thread, I think there are alot more sad dads than you think out there.
