I have been offered a teaching position with Shanghai Yulun Education Group. The position doesn't pay great: 7,000 RMB/month with no additional wage for an apartment. Also, I would be teaching children, while my preference would be to teach adults. However, the position is in Shanghai - which is great for me, the teaching hours are limited to 16/week, and my fiance and I both were offered positions there - which is important.
Does anyone have any advice for us? Experiences with teaching ESL to children? Knowledge of this institute? Thoughts on how livable this wage will be in Shanghai? |

You're quite right: the pay is not attractive. A larger concern that I would have if I were in your situation: can they hire you legally? I got the impression from having perused one of their ads some time ago that they were not authorized to initiate the appropriate visa/residence permit--but I'm sure that there are posters here with fresher information. |

Has anyone gone through the Shanghai Yulun Education Group lately?
If you have I would love to hear your thoughts! They have some ads up again, but as previously noted, it doesn't look like they offer a Z-visa (or they would advertise this on their website, no?), and no apartment included. |

I applied for a position with this group last January. I sent an email asking them about the Z visa and if they are licenced to issue it. I also asked some other questions about their employment conditions only to be told off for not sending my cv and photograph. The person concerned, answered my questions but not about the Z visa, adequately enough. I never got a reply to my formal application. |
