I just booked my ticket to Buenos Aires and will arrive September 27th... just three short months away!

I'd love to get together in early October, and meet and personally thank those in country who have been a part of this forum... especially

Matt
Guille
Jonny
Snielz

and those who may have already arrived by then...

VivaBarca
Amy
Carlos
Kristen
Andrew
KirstenMegan
and anyone else who has taken time to post on this forum!

it has been invaluable, and perhaps even responsible in me making my dream a reality. (Now I just gotta teach a summer school class, go stateside for a few weddings, and spend a couple weeks in Costa Rica with dear ol' mom, and get ready for the big leap...)

cheers,

Darin

Sounds like a plan...it should be quite a laugh trying to put the all the faces to the screennames. Maybe I'll just make it easy on everyone and rock out in my # 52 Jersey, haha. I've got just over two months to go, and it can't come soon enough...

Hasta Pronto,

viva

Those last months do seem to take forever dont they?? At least you guys, except Kristen, are arriving when the weather will be turning nice- good thinking. Kristen, youll be getting here right in the middle of winter-bienvenidos!

I too found the forum really helpful when I was trying to figure out how to come here. It is for this reason that I continue to post up what I learn or think...this and the fact that I dont get ripped to shreds here, even if I do give Ray-Ray a hard time for no justified reason.

Im guessing this forum is good because we just post info or ask about simple topics that interest us and dont try to use the freakin esl cafe to convert people to our religion or flame people who dont share our political views...its a freakin esl forum!

Basically, you guys are way too mature/informative for Daves. What we need to do is get a few of the more informative people banned and then start picking on one another incessantly. Then we too can sink in to our own cesspool of opinionated half-truths.

Good luck on the countdown guys. If it helps the time pass faster, enjoy the fact that you are missing the winter.

I realize it will be winter...but it won't be anything compared to the awful winter I just experienced in Ohio where the temperature got down to -8 F (-22 C) complete with tons of snow and ice.

Of course, I'm not saying I won't be happy when summer starts down there, and I am a bit sad to leave it here...but whatever...I'll be in Argentina Very Happy

no, the winter in buenos aires isn't anything CLOSE to that bad. frost is rare and snow even rarer...

i'm leaving TOMORROW NIGHT!!!! i can't believe it's finally here! woooooooooooohoooooooooooo! if anyone wants to do anything anytime, i'm up for it Smile

although, i start the EBC course on monday so my schedule may be a little tighter after that...

can't wait to see you all! the last few months have at times seemed to drag on painfully slow, but then all of a sudden, i'm leaving tomorrow! maybe it wasn't so slow afterall...

I haven't been contributing to the forum, but I have been reading it pretty regularly for the past few months, and i also really need to thank everyone for all the great information on here. Snielz's first impressions pieces in particular I think were some of the most informative and comforting things to read for someone getting ready to go to buenos aires, but really everyone's posts have been great. I stopped reading the other forums because everyone seems to be bitter egomaniacs, but reading this one makes me glad that i'm going where i'm going. I've got 2 months from tomorrow til i fly down, and i'm getting more exited every day. So thanks again to everyone, and maybe i'll see some of you in a couple months.

Sam

Looking forward to meeting all you guys. Also looking forward to the cold weather. Here in DC I'm dying from the heat.

Regards,
Andrew

yehhhhhh El Nota...way to rep FC Barca. That's what I like to see. Now at Michigan we have the "Big House," but Camp Nou is another world - 120,000 people I believe...insane. What'd you think of Barcelona as compared to Madrid?

I've never experienced big time college football as I went to Cal in the post Mariucci pre Tedford days... in fact, I was there for five big games (vs. Stanford), and we lost all five. Glad things have turned around, but I mean, we were a joke! It's not like our big game is against a particularly good football school.

I was in Barcelona for two months, and I thought it was unreal. I had a fantastic time... lots of good and cheap wine and porros. Plus great people (maybe their one flaw was a little too much racism, but I don't think that is unique to BCN). Camp Nou is a beautiful stadium (the one drawback being that they don't serve alcohol... only non alcoholic beer.) I haven't spent more than five days in Madrid in my whole life so I can't do a very good comparison, but I do love the museums there. I don't think it really compares as far as interesting cities go, but the food in Madrid is quite good and the nightlife is great, too.

Yes, Barcelona is unreal. The nightlife is unrivaled by any other place I've ever been to...although I've been told Buenos Aires isn't too shabby either, so I can't wait to make the comparison. Just put down my deposit for EBC, so IT'S ON NOW!
