Hello,

Does anyone know how I can borrow or obtain an invoice/CUIT number??
I am facing a pay cut with an employer who never mentioned this during the interview and which I forgot to ask. She says she needs the invoice number to pay taxes.

Any advice is appreciated!

You won't be able to get your own 'factura' (invoice) if you are not legally working in the country (If you do have all the necessary paperwork go to the nearest AFIP office). However you will probably be able to 'borrow' someone else's factura - Which basically means that they get paid your wages and then you sort it out with them - I get paid through my girlfriend's factura, make sure it's someone you trust to a certain degree...

The tax seems to depend on whether you (or rather the person whose factura you are using) is registered as an employee somewhere else. If they are I think it's about $30 a month plus whatever gets taken out at the other place that they work at. If you are completely self-employed (monotributista - I think is the expression) then it's about $90 per month.
It works on wage bands - depending on how much you earn per year, as an English teacher I don't think that you'd be in a higher wage band.

The facturas are a kind of way of showing that a person has paid their tax and pension contributions that month, but it seems to be a fairly easy system to work around....

That's as much as I've managed to figure out so far - if anyone knows better please add it on here, or correct what I've written. I think that this is all a Federal issue - if not, then I'm in Cordoba - so in Capital it will be different...
