As a recently-confirmed SNET, I have been looking for a decent, somewhat comprehensive medical insurance package for me and my family of three. I wasn't able to find much through Blue Cross- does anyone have any suggestions?

If you join the PTU (Professional Teachers Union), you can take advantage of discounted premiums with Blue Cross. Information leaflets and application forms can be picked up from the PTU. Check details on web site: www.hkptu.org, click on English, welfare, insurance, Blue Cross HKPTU HEALTHCARE PLAN.
Other possibilities include HSBC - information and forms available at any branch.
I've been wondering if WorldNomads might be a good idea for me, but I don't know anyone who's tried them. www.worldnomads.com.au

Yes, you can join the Union. Most of us have. It's cheap (I can't remember how much, but I think it's less than $100) and there'll be a teacher at your school in charge of collected membership forms and fees. The PTU also runs a co-op: shop, optician, medical centre, and lots more. Best prices for some things and discounts for tickets to places like Ocean Park.
