I am an American Citizen. It seems it would be no problem if she were also an American citizen. As she is a Philippine national, would this present a problem?
We have narrowed our search to Japan and S. Korea so information about either would be great.
Take care,

What is the problem? She is your wife and you show immigration your marriage certificate. Shouldn't matter if she was from Mars (provided she has a passport). |

Cool Gordon. It depends on the agreement Japan has with nation in question. For example a being from Mars would have a better chance of gaining a visa than a North Korean National.
I feel like need to check as the Philippines lower economic status can be an issue when gaining a visa in some countries. No luck yet finding an official web site that will give me an answer.

The only issue I see is with many Japanese people here. They often see Filipinos as exotic dancers as that is a common form of employment here for them. So there might be some discrimination that way, but heck, we are all discriminated against here. |

I think it would only be a problem if she was trying to come on an entertainers visa which I have recently learnt has been discontinued. Filipinos can no longer come here as dancers and strippers.
My guess is they would be more concerned with whether your marriage is authentic, not a paper marriage, so be prepared to bring lots of proof that its a genuine union. Perhaps watching the movie "Green Card" with Gerard Depardieu should be required viewing. May be not problem with her visa, but one can not be too careful with Japanese immigration, as they are slightly to the right of the religious zealots in the US. |
