ET`s latest ad and some comments and questions:

English Time, a growing language school with branches in Istanbul, London, and Toronto, is looking for dynamic certified native English speaking teachers for immediate and future positions. Experience is preferred. We offer an hourly salary at competitive rates, housing or some housing support, and an end of contract bonus and travel.

Growing language school-true

Branches in London and Toronto-not true. The branches there are no more branches than the City of London College has a branch in London. There is a link but that is all.

Dynamic-they have never used that word before.

Certified-Now you have to be certified but by whom? Recently ET said they would take teflers with experience but no cert-has it changed?

No mention of a degree? Strange? They always mentioned degree in their ads before. Seems unbelievable that they would leave it out. Can`t be an accident so like Interlang which is advertising for degreeless teachers like their Dos, it must be a new policy.

No mention of work permits or visa runs.

Hourly rate-same

Housing contribution-not enough but same

Bonus but Interlang didn`t pay their bonuses and they are owned by ET so what is it worth?

Travel -no mention of how much so it must be low.

No mention of guaranteed hours so that is out.

No mention of social security or holidays so that is out.

No mention of teacher development..............

What do newbies do if they want to come to Ist?

I don`t know but I know that working illegally for an hourly rate at ET is not the way to go.

Comparing s h i t and s h i t e is not the way to go either.

i am not saying that istanbul is bad for newbies but given the choices of dershanes these days, i don't think that et is such a bad choice for someone starting out.

Sorry to say the same thing but try it yourself and see.

There is a Turkish saying that roughly translates as:

Divorce is easy for a single man
