|
|
Someone very important to me is getting married and I was wondering if anyone has good suggestions for a gift. I'm pretty tight for cash but say I'm willing to go from 20,000-25,000Y. Ideally it would be great to give them some kind of art or household goods that will blend Japan and good taste together. I don't want anything kitchy and if travels well that would be even better. What does Japan make that every couple back home should not be without?
Any suggestions are welcome no matter how absurd. |

Japanese Style Banners from local artists.
I sent two of these home for x-mas and am still hearing praise on how beautiful they are.
Japanese art is always appreciated I find and its something you cant go wrong on IMO.
I bought two full sized banners that where gorgeously painted with mountains and small old towns for about 20, 000 each. |

I bought my cousin a yukata as an engagement gift. She loved it. |

We got a lot of Japan-themed gifts for our wedding. One friend gave us a wonderful hand made set of tall tea cups. I also really liked the noren (those split curtain thingies) in traditional indigo dye... but I actually use these in my house. Dishes, teapots, and textiles are all good bets as they are practical and attractive. There is nothing worse than a wedding gift that you won't use and/or you think is ugly. Well, except for six tosters. |
