Have you ever noticed how the verb elope is intransitive yet kiz(i) kacirmak is transitive?

Do you remember Refah ripping off charity money and sending it to Chechen terrorists and treating wounded Chechen terrorists in Turkish hospitals?
Do you remember those Chechen terrorists who took those people hostage in a hotel in Taksim and then escaped (guffaw guffaw-I thought escape was an intransitive verb) from prison a few months later?

[quote="whynotme"]32 years of life having to live with terrorism, i say everyone in the world must come together to stop these *beep* bustards without stipulating anything. When i was a kid i saw 2 bombings by ASALA quote]

I was there on the sixth floor of ET when the Atakoy mall bomb went off. No one was hurt at that time, but it still scared the bejeezus out of me. People tell me I am crazy to think about returning to Istanbul next year because they believe that bombs go off halfhazardly on a regular basis.

Then again people still think there's a sultan.

Toronto has never been bombed - Vancouver, pretty much any Canadian city...

The ice storms can kill you, though...

But you said 'risk'. There is always risk:

As terrorist expert John Thompson puts it: "We are on al Qaedas radar screen."

"Islamic Fundamentalists do not like the Western World--all of it, and that does include us," Thompson wrote in a recent CanadaFreePress.com column. "They hate the ease with which we generate wealth (because we have freedom to grow). They do not like our technological superiority (because we have the freedom to think). They do not like our easy liberal ways. They despise the confidence and self-assertion of Western women--few of whom are more self-confident than Canadian women. They loathe the casual ease with which we range throughout the rest of the world, unconsciously bringing Western culture with us everywhere we go."

Despite this - most people still do not feel there is any real danger being in Canada. And many Canucks are becoming more and more insular - only going out of the country on winter sojourns to Florida.

No danger. No life. No opportunity. No one to come into my house to do the laundry.

my parents said the same thing when i told them i was coming to istanbul.

what a horrible thing to happen to so many innocent people. but good on london for not crumbling in fear and halting everything. in their actions they showed that terrorism had not won nor will not win in their city.

heard the mayor of london tonight on the news. brilliant things he said in his press conference.

I think we are all at risk of harm because you never know when these cowards will strike. I will give them credit for being smart enough to stay elusive for so long and they usually send the lowest of their kind to do their deeds, as in suicide bombings. Yes, they even send children, and that is a prime example of their cowardice. As far as the PKK go, Turkey should be able to keep an eye on this group of evil idiots, and are doing a pretty good job at catching some of them in the act.. If they are in Iraq, then they atleast know where they are. The world needs to work together to find a solution to this and other similar problems. Who will be next..to get bombed.. I guess we will see.. Question Sad

HeHe.. i did not write that article.. Laughing or do any of the research..but.. I have conducted an independent poll and my sources say the Turk 3.7 minute figure is basically true.. but maybe this stems from the Turk mentality of getting what they can as fast as they can and getting out.. I don't know, just a thought. I think Turks in general are really nice people.. but will use you if they can.. Maybe this is an extention of that mentality. I will not voice any opinions until I have read more research on the topic of Turks, sex, mentality, and ability to last longer than 3.7 minutes. Hehe.. Laughing Poor Turkish women..and the men the Turks have sex with when they can't get a woman.. It is so sad for them. Smile
