Well,in my opinion, it had to be one of the most interesting(and hilarious) bits of news on the BBC in a long time....people calling Silvio Berlusconi, the Italian now in charge(or whatever)of the presidency of the EU "Godfather" and then Silvio saying one of the German members would be perfect as a concentration camp guard in some upcoming film.Looks like a few more cracks developing in "United Europe".I laughed so hard I nearly spilled my coffee. At least it was good comedy.Slapstick. Laughing

Saddest thing above all else - Berlusconi is Godfather of the media in Italy and France, not as benign as Turner in the USA but as powerful as that Aussie chap twice the age his current Hong Kong-born wife...you know who!

Frankly, whatever one thinks of the Italian PM, he did Europe(and maybe the world) bit of a favour by giving the EU parliamentarians a good dressing down. Smug and ever-so self-righteous are they, as is German Chancellor Schroeder, the "former" Marxist. Ever notice it's OK to be a "former" communist, but imagine the uproar if you're outed as a "former" fascist? For those of us old enough to remember, we can think back to the Kurt Waldheim affair. As for Berlusconi, I say... kudos!
