This is AMIDEAST, right? They are pretty dependable employers. Probably one of the best in Yemen. Is it in Sana'a or Aden? That could affect any advice if we have anyone with direct experience.

I haven't been in Yemen, but have many friends who loved the place. Everyone seems to be so impressed with the people, but the lifestyle can be a bit trying at times. It is, after all, a 'developing' country. So, you need to be adaptive and have a sense of humor.

My wife and I just accepted jobs with AMIDEAST in Yemen, and will be arriving by the end of July.

I am so stoked - I lived in Yemen for a short time, pre-9/11, and had a great time. My wife who hasn't been there is, of course, somewhat more apprehensive.

I think the American Language Center is a different entity. I saw their job add, but was already in the process with AMIDEAST so I didn't apply.

I know a little about Yemen, but it might be quite dated. I'll try to answer any questions.

Let me know if you take the job. We are definitely on our way!

I'm a teacher at The American Language Center in Aden. I'm from the USA and have worked here for over one year.

ALC is a great school. The staff is professional and the students are great.

I also have friends who work at AMIDEAST and they all like it.

I do think they are related. If you google American Language Center Yemen, you end up at AMIDEAST's website. If is hard to tell with names. For instance the ALCs in Morocco are not related to AMIDEAST. Half the time they share part-time teachers - not really a problem I think... Cool

Have a great time!!
