I have stopped answering newbie questions because i can predict the answer and know how the thread is going to develop.

once upon a time you said that you came on here to help newbies with their questions abot turkey, its too bad that you don't anymore. i know you have a lot of information

ET is great!!! no it isnt, yes it is, no it isnt, yes it is, etc

for me, its not just about et. it's more about the same four or five posters that dominate this forum talking about the same topics over and over again, in their little thread conversations, that are no help to anyone.

i agree. there was a time when i liked reading what people had to say. when i first started posting, there were interesting topics and helpful information. you could post without fear of getting your head bitten off or getting called names and so on. now it's a lot of bullshi.t and most of the time i can't be bothered.

It must be hard to find a TEFL job being a non-native given the native speaker obsession here.

ET are apalling but it is a job.

it will never stop, will it? every bloody thread ends up about et...

Salak

You made the mistake not me. The topic was great place not nice place.

For the record I don`t want to attach ET.
One is a loser not a looser.
It is same as not same like.
It is poster not pooster.
Shut your mouth is sufficient not shut your mouth up.
Critize? Check your dictionary.
Fool comments may still be acceptable in parts of North America but I haven`t heard that outside of Dukes of Hazzard. Stick to foolish.
Where did you get ''ur'' from? From a native speaker it may be alright but stick to your.

Allah kolaylik versin.

If we can keep this discussion civilised,

it will remain alive.

If not, it will be terminated.

Thank you! Cool I'll be back.

ET can handle the negative comments by 31. I've re-read my own, and the majority are in response to something 31 has written - my point being that 31 has motivated me out of lurking and into participating.

I guess I committed the newbie fallacy myself; I never introduced myself either.

I spent the latter part of the 90's in Istanbul. I was hired after a phone interview by someone by the name of Molly at a school called English Time. Sound familiar?

I too have been guilty of posting anti-ET rampages that occured after Molly left and we were left under the direction of none-too-savory characters, but enough of that. Past is past. I was, by the way, the first person to ever post anything about English Time on Dave's, coining the two initials "ET" on job info journal. Yay for me.

Despite everything that 31 claims about ET, I would still go back. I had far too many great times there to let the bureaucratic c.rap stop me. Life is what you make it.

But I do read everything written about ET and can sense frustration on all ends. I lived and worked in Sirenevler, Kadikoy, Buyukcekmece (lived only, didn't teach in that satellite school...).

Don't go away, whynotme, I enjoy reading your posts and seeing the pictures of your son.

If people, dmb, are fed up with 31's experiences with ET - don't respond. I know it can be hard not too, but try! If you respond to every negative comment made by 31 you'll give yourself carpal tunnel syndrome...

And we can't have that. That would flush a puppet career right down the tubes. And it's always a sad day when you have to put your puppets away.

- Sandy

Hey Corall, Halelujah said that he didn`t want to work for ET so I just asked him if he is ex-ET. It was a reasonable question and the topic of ET was started by Halelujah.

No, whynotme has got a monk on because he misread a post and then replied with a load of abuse that was riddled with mistakes. He tried to be clever but ended up with some embarssingly bad posts that he has had to be delete. Of course by not apologising it just makes it worse.

That's an apology in my book. Wink

Now shake hands (or click your mouse twice) and move on. Mr. Green

At the start of this thing dmb asked us all to move on. He's right.

There's one problem thou, there are alot of people who know the teaching game well and know the city well on this forum, and as jobs become harder to get in other parts of europe and as more young people decide to travel and work at the same time Istanbul becomes an attractive option to alot of newbies. So alot of same old questions are going to be asked.

If you think about how many people have spent ten or more years working in other hot spots like China or Korea. There is clearly alot of experience here, and most of us oldbies(?) have strong views. So its fun to read.

Yet like dmb said, for own sanity, we need to find new things..

One last thing 31 you can't go around calling anyone salak.
Where lucky to have whynotme with us. It's his nation not yours. You can pack up and go when ever you want. He's put in the time, The tax's and done the national service. If he wants to comment on the TURKEY FORUM he dam well can. I'm a native, and as I've said 100 times my spelling and typing is crap. Attack the ideas as much as you want but lay off the personal. I had a hard go at you when you first started but pulled back since then and it's time you pull back as well

Btw like I said before it's summer, so I'm on a one hour limit. Crying or Very sad
